Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has said that the club have more work to do in the transfer window. The Scottish Champions are in Como to face Ajax as part of the Como Cup.

Brendan has been vocal about adding to his attacking third given Nicolas Kühn’s exit, interest in Yang and Jota’s injury layoff. Ahead of next weekend’s flag day opener against St Mirren, Celtic are yet to add to the wide areas.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Celtic boss said that he is confident that the club will add to the squad in the coming weeks.

“We still have some work to do. I think the players that we have in the building have been very, very good in this pre-season so far. But like I say, we still have work to do in the market.”

“I think it’s very clear where our gaps are – in our front line, where we need support,” Rodgers said. “I’m very confident that we’ll be able to do that before the market finishes.”

Celtic have been linked with a number of players but are yet to replace Kühn, who left for Como in a €19m deal. Michel-Ange Balikwisha from Antwerp has been a contender but Celtic are yet to make a move. Jakob Breum has emerged as a potential target but Celtic had a £1.5m bid knocked back with the Go Ahead Eagles advising they’d accept £5m.

Celtic have signed Benjamin Nygren, Kieran Tierney, Hayato Inamura, Shin Yamada and Ross Doohan. However, the club have shipped out a number of players with Kühn, Marco Tilio, Luis Palma, Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki all departing.
