Celtic continue their preseason preparations this evening against Ajax. The Dutch side are the latest test for Brendan Rodgers’ team as they gear up towards the Premiership opener against St Mirren next Sunday. Brendan has spoken about the areas that Celtic need to strengthen in, mainly the attacking third. However, it appears that the club are holding onto wide players until finding first team ready replacements.

There have been reports this week stating that South Korean winger Yang is close to making the switch from Celtic to Norwich City. Yang has made 65 appearances for Celtic, scoring 7 goals and assisting on 9 occasions. The winger is a frustrating watch at times given his lack of consistency.

Similarly, Marco Tilio is expected to depart for Rapid Vienna in a loan to buy deal; however, the Australian has been named on the bench for this evening’s match. The Austrian side have been eager to replace Isak Jansson, who left in a €10m deal to OGC Nice.

Celtic need to strengthen in attack as the depth in the front three will cause some alarm, not least the manager. Brendan has spoken for a few months about strengthening the squad and with the season upon us, he may be disappointed that there is not a replacement for Kyogo and Nicolas Kühn, especially with Jota’s injury layoff.

There has been a suggestion that Shin Yamada could be a wide recruit, notwithstanding the fact that he has predominantly been used as a striker. However, this remains unclear at present.
