Manchester United are in contact with one of Brighton & Hove Albion’s best performers this season, according to Brazilian outlet Trivela.

The Red Devils are likely to strengthen their first-team squad next year. Manager Ruben Amorim may demand players who could suit his playing style.

A new attacker could be one of the priorities, and Brighton’s Joao Pedro is reportedly ‘already negotiating’ with United over a summer transfer.

The Brazilian international is ‘100 percent’ prepared to take the next step in his career. United are likely to face competition from Liverpool for his services.

Pedro’s versatility would suit the Red Devils

The 23-year-old joined the Seagulls from Watford in 2023 and had a good debut season, scoring 20 goals.

Pedro has struggled with injuries this season, but he has still impressed with four goals and three assists in the league.

The Fluminense graduate has predominantly played as a striker in his career, but he has also been successful on the left wing and in the number 10 role.

His versatility in the final third could be a reason behind United’s interest. Amorim could see Pedro as an inverted forward or a striker in his 3-4-2-1 formation.

United could find it hard to sign him from Brighton. Pedro will have three more years left on his contract next summer. The Seagulls are in a strong position to negotiate.

He is valued at £42 million by Transfermarkt, but knowing Brighton’s tough negotiation skills, United could be asked to pay £70m to sign the forward.

United are aiming to spend with more caution under INEOS, and he is unlikely to make the switch to Old Trafford next summer.
