Reports from Brazil confirm that Botafogo are in contact with Inter to discuss a potential deal for unwanted centre-forward Mehdi Taremi, who will be allowed to leave after just one season in San Siro.
The Iran international joined the Nerazurri on a free transfer at the end of his contract with FC Porto last summer, but has since struggled to make an impact in Serie A, scoring just one goal from 26 outings in the league last term.
With Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram still under contract, with Ange-Yoan Bonny arriving from Parma this window, Francesco Pio Esposito set to play a bigger role in the first team and with talks ongoing for Ademola Lookman, there is no longer much room for the 33-year-old Taremi.

According to reports from ESPN in Brazil, Botafogo are in talks over a potential deal for Taremi this window.
Inter do not have a specific price tag in mind, given that the Iranian joined on a free transfer last season, but the Nerazzurri are still expected to request a fee given that the player is still under contract for another two years.
ESPN claims that Botafogo are ‘optimistic’ that a deal could be struck. Taremi has reportedly been offered a two-and-a-half year contract until the end of the 2027 calendar year.

The Brazilian side adds to previously reported interest from the likes of West Ham United, Fulham and Besiktas.
Botafogo had also reportedly looked at the possibility of signing Taremi while he was still at Porto.
Coincidentally, Botafogo have another former Inter forward on their books, as they signed Joaquin Correa on a free transfer after the expiry of his Nerazzurri contract earlier this summer.
