PSV coach Peter Bosz has selected Tai Abed (20) for the Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade to help with Malik Tillman’s injury absence. The Israeli, who plays for Jong PSV, is still waiting for his debut in the first team.
Bosz announced both Tillman’s injury and the prospect’s involvement just before the shock defeat to PEC Zwolle. Tillman is sidelined after a knock in the KNVB Cup against Excelsior.
A star for Jong PSV in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie this season, Abed has already scored 11 times in 21 matches. At the end of December, he scored a hattrick against Vitesse. The attacker, who extended his contract with PSV until mid-2026, already trains regularly with the first team.
Jong PSV captain Wessel Kuhn (18) will also travel to Belgrade, where PSV will play against the leader in the Serbian competition on Tuesday. Ivan Perisic and Esmir Bajraktarevic will not be able to play in Serbia as they’re both ineligible for the Champions League. Matteo Dams is suspended for this match, while Sergiño Dest and Adamo Nagalo are still recovering from injuries.
