Hector Fort appears likely to be on his way out of FC Barcelona in the ongoing transfer window.

A talented young defender, the 18-year-old right-back does not seem to feature prominently in manager Hansi Flick’s plans heading into the new season, much like he did not in the previous campaign.

As such, Barcelona are understood to be open to the idea of cashing in on him in the coming weeks, with there being no shortage of interest in the teenager.

Borussia Dortmund eyeing Hector Fort

One such club showing an interest in signing Hector Fort this summer happens to be German giants Borussia Dortmund, according to Fichajes.

The Black and Yellows are known for developing young talent and value the Barcelona youth product’s versatility and attacking capability. As such, they view him as a current asset with significant long-term upside.

The German side’s sporting department is closely monitoring Barcelona’s transfer activity. Discussions are still in the early stages, but Fort’s camp is aware of the potential move to the Bundesliga.

If the operation progresses, Barcelona would aim to retain some form of control over the player’s future – potentially through a buy-back clause or performance-based add-ons.

Fort, for his part, is said to be open to a move that would offer regular playing time and continuity. Borussia Dortmund’s sporting project is appealing to the player, who is looking to continue developing in a competitive environment.

Fort did not play any part in Barcelona’s first pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe over the weekend. However, he did get an opportunity earlier today against FC Seoul in the second half, when he came on to replace Jules Kounde.

But with the Frenchman and Eric Garcia both being ahead of him in the pecking order, an exit might be the sensible option for Fort and Barcelona.
