Sunday’s much-anticipated Serie A contest between Bologna and Lazio could be delayed due to the bad weather conditions.
The Biancocelesti are travelling to Emilia for this direct showdown against Vicenzo Italiano’s men who have emerged as genuine Champions League candidates on the back of a superb run. Therefore, this fixture has been pinpointed as one of the main tilts of the Serie A weekend. However, the fans might be denied the opportunity to witness it on Sunday.
According to several reports, including Bologna-based newspaper Il Resto del Carlino (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the authorities could decide to postpone this clash due to fears of potential floods.
As the report explains, the situations eased in recent hours, as the river levels have decreased below the red threshold. However, heavy rains are expected on Saturday, which could see these levels rise once more. Therefore, the authorities will be closely monitoring the weather condition before making a final decision on the matter.
Lazio were planning to move to the Renato Dall’Ara accompanied by around 2,500 travelling supporters who were quick to buy their tickets for the big clash, explains the source. Marco Baroni’s men will be hoping to avoid a delay, as their schedule for April is already jam-packed between Serie A and Europa League fixtures.
