All the latest news surrounding Birmingham City
Birmingham City are preparing for life back in the Championship after gaining promotion from League One last season.
Chris Davies’ side earned an impressive tally of 111 points on their way to the title, making quick work of getting back to the second tier after their relegation in the previous campaign.
The Blues now have their sights set on being able to compete for promotion to the Premier League.
It has already been a busy summer of transfer activity at St. Andrew’s ahead of the opening round at home to Ipswich Town in less than a month.
Here we look at all the latest news surrounding Birmingham…
Birmingham have had a busy start to the summer transfer window, bringing in multiple fresh faces to Davies’ squad.
However, Birmingham Live has claimed that players will also need to be sold before the market shuts.
It has been claimed that Bailey Peacock-Farrell is considering a departure from St. Andrew’s, with Alfons Sampstead and Emil Hansson’s positions at the club also in doubt, with FLW exclusively revealing that the latter has not even been included in their pre-season training camp squad.
It is understood that the Midlands outfit will need to sell four players from their current first team in order to meet the maximum squad size of 25.
If Birmingham want to continue bringing in players, then even more sales could be needed.
It has been reported by Caught Offside, that the Blues are weighing up a move for Taichi Hara.
The winger has been placed on their shortlist of targets after performing well with J1 League side Kyoto Sanga.
The club have reportedly sent scouts to watch his games, with the forward seen as an affordable talent that could improve Davies’ team.
A trailer has been released for an upcoming docu-series on the club which will be released later this year on Amazon Prime Video.
The series will follow Tom Brady’s involvement in the running of the Blues, with the former NFL star currently a minority owner in Birmingham.
The trailer shows footage of Wayne Rooney’s time in charge as manager, as well as the team’s League One title winning season.
It will be released on 1 August ahead of the new Championship campaign getting underway later that month.
Don Goodman has claimed that Lyndon Dykes is unlikely to feature regularly for Birmingham in the Championship this season.
The Sky Sports pundit has highlighted his lack of goals in recent years, and believes that he will be far down the pecking order at St. Andrew’s.
"I think you have to go back to 2020/21 to see the last time that Lyndon Dykes managed double figures in the Championship," Goodman exclusively told FLW.
"It’s been a tough few years for him, don’t think that he’s going to get a lot of game time at Birmingham City this season in the Championship, don’t really think he’s a prolific scorer of goals.
