Aston Villa and Newcastle United target Yunus Akgun has caught the attention of La Liga outfit Real Betis, who want him as a replacement for Manchester United loanee Antony.

Betis have just concluded an impressive season, which saw them reach the final of the Conference League and also qualify for next season’s Europa League through their finish in La Liga.

Given the high demands next season due to their involvement in multiple competitions, Betis are actively looking at options in the transfer market.

They have an agreement in place with Leeds United left-back Junior Firpo, while they also want striker Mateo Joseph from the Elland Road club.

A replacement for Antony, who has been on loan from Manchester United, may also well be needed.

Galatasaray’s 24-year-old winger Akgun is also someone who has caught the attention of the Betis scouts, according to Turkish daily Takvim (via A Spor).

That could put Betis on a potential collision course with Aston Villa and Newcastle, who have both been looking at the Galatasaray man.

The Turkish giants are not keen on losing Akgun and have been clear that a substantial fee would be needed.

Aston Villa are set to lose Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio this summer and strengthening the final third is something they are keen to do.

Newcastle also want a winger after coming up short in their bid to sign one in recent windows.

It is unclear just how high up on the list of options Akgun is at either Premier League club, but Betis are expected to make their interest official with a bid soon.

Galatasaray have been speaking internally to decide what their response would be if bids start to arrive.
