Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has revealed three key names within the Etihad Stadium that will keep the club at the very pinnacle of European football.

The reigning Premier League champions find themselves at the very pinnacle of the sport, especially off the back of their Treble heroics during the final month of the previous 2022/23 campaign.

Pep Guardiola and his players recorded an achievement only ever previously matched by Manchester United in 1999, as they followed up a Premier League success with victories in the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League finals.

While the ongoing season is lining up to be similarly as successful, minus the possibility of a Champions League win, there remains conversation about Manchester City’s ability to remain as Europe’s greatest footballing side amid uncertainty over Pep Guardiola’s future.

Speaking during a new feature with the Premier League’s official YouTube channel, Bernardo Silva has pinpointed three names within Manchester City’s exemplary operation that will keep the club at the very top of European football for a “very, very long period”.

“Everyone is on the same page; from Khaldoon (Al Mubarak, Chairman), to Ferran Soriano (CEO), to Txiki (Begiristain, sporting director), to Pep (Guardiola) – they all want to play the same way. They all want to buy the same players,” Bernardo Silva revealed.

“Then when you’re on the same page, you have the same idea, you have players with the quality we have. Players make the difference but we could always replace.”

The Portuguese midfielder continued, “When David (Silva), Kun (Sergio Aguero), or Vincent (Kompany) left, we could always replace them and other players join – people come and go. We were always able to maintain the same level, even with injuries.

“That’s what keeps Man City at the highest level. It’s not easy to maintain over a long period, but the guys at the top, the decisions and the way they want to play, this club has everything to be very successful for a very long period.”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will see his current contract at the Etihad Stadium expire at the end of the 2024/25 season, as things stand, while officials within the club will no doubt look to tempt the Catalan into yet another extension.

Having joined the club in the summer of 2016, Guardiola could make it 10 years in charge of Manchester City should he remain at the club for a further season. However, club officials will no doubt give him the time and space to make a decision privately.
