MIAMI – The 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League continued on Saturday with Group Dof League B on display from Estadio Cibao FC in Santiago de los Caballeros,Dominican Republic.
The Dominican Republic and Bermuda each secured victories to keep the race for firstplace alive. In the relegation battle, three points continue to separate Antigua andBarbuda and Dominica at the bottom of the standings.
Bermuda vs. Antigua and Barbuda
Bermuda earned a 2-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda to stay in contention for the topspot in the group. Bermuda is in second place in Group D with 12 points, three behindleaders Dominican Republic.
The scoring started in the 8’ with an own goal as defender Zafique Drew tried to clearthe ball off his line and knocked it into his net.
Bermuda extended the lead in the 48’ when Reggie Lambe scored off the volley.Antigua and Barbuda tried to spark a rally as Daryl Massicot curled in a beautiful shotin the 69’ to cut the deficit by one.
Bermuda’s final match will be against the Dominican Republic on Tuesday as they battlefor that top spot. Antigua and Barbuda will face Dominica as both teams try to avoidrelegation.
Dominica vs. Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic remained undefeated in the tournament with a 6-1 victory overDominica.
Dorny Romero and Heinz Mörschel each recorded a brace. Romero started thescoring as he elevated over defenders and headed in the opening goal in the 13’.Travist Joseph leveled it up in the 30’, unleashing a rocket from distance.
The Dominican Republic responded in the 37’ as Mörschel ripped a superb strike of hisown. He added his second in the 49’, cleaning up a rebound in the penalty area for the3-1 lead.
Romero’s low strike in the 65’ went past goalkeeper Glenson Prince to extend the leadfor the hosts.
Rafael Mata penned his name on the scoresheet in the 68’.
Erick Paniagua netted a penalty kick late in the 90’+5 for the final goal of the night.The Dominican Republic is closing in on promotion to League A and a 2025 Gold Cupspot as it meets second-place Bermuda in the group’s final match.
