Bergomi: Inter have a ‘problem’ but must see ‘glass half-full’ | OneFootball

Former Inter defender Giuseppe Bergomi insists they need ‘to see the glass as half full’ while admitting that Simone Inzaghi’s side looks “tired” at the moment.

The Nerazzurri missed the chance to move four points clear at the top of Serie A after conceding a late equaliser against Napoli, meaning they have won just two of their last five league matches.

Bergomi believes that the Nerazzurri’s growing difficulties stem from both their opponents’ changing approach and the physical issues plaguing their squad. However, he insists that the ‘real problem’ lies in something that happened during the first half of their season.

Bergomi explains Inter’s ‘real problem’

“Nowadays, there are very few teams that mark man-to-man, maybe only Atalanta,” said Bergomi, as quoted by FcInternews.

“If you look at Inter’s recent matches, their last goals have come from set pieces or penalties. In the second half, Napoli’s attitude changed.

“I still believe that this team is currently tired and has suffered many injuries. Right now, they need to see the glass as half full—the real problem was the points dropped earlier.

“Some players who were performing incredibly well are no longer at that level.”

Federico Dimarco’s recent injury against Napoli is set to leave coach Simone Inzaghi short of options in that position for the upcoming games, potentially forcing him to change systems and adapt other players to the role.
