Manchester United youngster Bendito Mantato has been added to the club’s B list for the Europa League meaning the talented youngster can now feature against Athletic Club in this evening’s semi-final clash at the Estadio de San Ames.

Mantato, 17, travelled with the first-team squad to Bilbao after Ruben Amorim made the decision to include the winger, along with other academy graduates Jaydan Kamason and Tyler Fredricson.

However, both of these youngsters had already been added to United’s squad for the competition, but have now been joined by Mantato who will be hoping to make his senior debut for the club on the grandest of stages.

And it appears the 17-year-old’s ascension at Old Trafford is set to continue with Mantato set to sign a new four-year deal with his boyhood club after previously agreeing personal terms, as relayed by The Peoples Person.

Fabrizio Romano confirms the plan is for Mantato to commit his long-term future to United after the trip to Bilbao with a contract running until June 2029.

Tweet: “Bendito Mantato has travelled with Man United squad… and then he will sign pro deal at #MUFC until June 2029.”

Mantato is described as an “insane” talent who has “lit up” academy matches for the Red Devils this season.

A versatile winger, he is capable of playing on either side, and has even operated as a defender in the United academy.

The youngster’s potent pairing of speed and skilful dribbling makes him a threat for any opposition fullback, even if his decision-making in the final third requires refining – as is expected for any 17-year-old, outside of Lamine Yamal.

A potential pathway into the first-team at Old Trafford for Mantato could come as a wing-back in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.

He has played as a fullback and retains the ability to operate on either wing – a trait United’s head coach values highly in his wing-backs, as demonstrated by Geovany Quenda’s remarkable rise for Sporting CP.

United executives will be delighted to have tied down a talented youngster to the club for the next four years who the head coach is evidently a fan of, given his inclusion in the Europa League squad and the squad for the season-defining match in Bilbao.
