Since the 1995/96 season, FC Bayern have won every one of their 30 first-round matches in the DFB Cup - the current record in the competition. The last time the record champions were eliminated after just one game was in 1994/95 when they lost 1-0 at TSV Vestenbergsgreuth.

FC Bayern lost 1-0 at home to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the last 16 of the DFB Cup last season..

Bayern have lost just once against teams from the third division or lower since the summer of 2001 - the last time they faced a third-tier side was in the second round of the 2023/24 season at 1. FC Saarbrücken, where they lost 2-1. In the other 28 matches, the German record champions won in commanding fashion. In total, FCB have come out on top 42 times in the past 44 cup matches against clubs from lower divisions - only in the 2023/24 season (2-1 at 1. FC Saarbrücken) and 2020/21 (6-5 on penalties at Holstein Kiel) did the Reds lose.

We took a closer look at our upcoming opponents:

In particular, FC Bayern have been extremely solid in defence in their cup openers in recent years. The Bavarians have kept a clean sheet in their five first-round ties since the 3-1 win at Energie Cottbus in August 2019 - only VfB Stuttgart currently boast a longer streak of DFB Cup opening games (6) without conceding.

But FCB have also impressed up front. Although coach Vincent Kompany's side were eliminated in the round of 16 last season, Harry Kane and Co. scored the most goals away from home in the 2024/25 campaign alongside VfB Stuttgart and Hamburger SV. Bayern won both away games - at Ulm and Mainz - by a resounding 4-0.
