Bayern Munich showed no mercy when they took on amateur side Auckland City with the Bundesliga champions scoring 10 without reply.

The imbalance of the match was apparent from the outset. In the sixth minute, exactly what the New Zealand team wanted to avoid happened: an early goal. Following a corner, Kingsley Coman made it 1-0 after Jonathan Tah's initial header.

But it was from the 18th minute onwards that the match became a nightmare for Auckland City. In the space of four minutes, Bayern scored three goals - Boey, Olise and Coman were the scorers - which meant the end of the discussion of the result.

Leading 4-0, the German team took their foot off the gas a little, but still scored two more goals before the end of the first half, through Thomas Müller and Olise.

With the game decided, Vincent Kompany made changes at half-time to save players for the other group matches, replacing Coman and Olise with Serge Gnabry and Lennert Karl, who made his Bayern debut. Harry Kane was taken off with just over an hour gone having surprisingly not found the net.

The momentum continued into the second half, but with fewer goals. It wasn't until Jamal Musiala came on that the German team scored again.

The Bayern attacking midfielder returned from injury at full throttle and scored a hat-trick, extending the score to 9-0, before Müller scored the final goal of the match, his 250th for the Bavarian club.

As far as adverts for a competitive tournament go this wasn't it although Benfica against Boca Juniors in the other Group C game promises a far more even contest.
