Fabrizio Romano, among many others, currently reports that Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel has turned down the approaches of Tottenham Hotspur and will not be moving to North London. The 19-year-old attacker may nevertheless be in for a move away from the Bundesliga as there are several other interested parties.
RMC Sport reports that negotiations with two other Premier League clubs are ongoing, namely Aston Villa and Manchester United. One assumes that two other London based clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea, also remain in the running. Both L’Equipé and Sky reported earlier that Bayern and Spurs agreed upon a €60m transfer fee.
The latest reports claim that Tel himself nixed the move as he did not wish to move to north London permanently. The teenage talent apparently prefers a loan deal that will enable him to remain under contract with the German giants. Tottenham – mired in crisis in 10th-place in the EPL table – made acquiring Tel a top priority.
Tel evidently turned down a direct recruitment effort from Daniel Levy, who travelled to Munich on Friday afternoon. All sources agree that Bayern were not present at the talks, yet have been duly informed of Tel’s decision.
