According to Bild, Bayern Munich have withdrawn their contract offer for Joshua Kimmich.
It is understood that the 30-year-old’s deal at the Allianz Arena is set to expire this summer, and both parties have been in talks regarding an extended stay at the club.
However, despite becoming a key figure for Vincent Kompany this season, suggesting that he would be the face of Bayern for the next few seasons, it appears as though the German international could depart the club on a free this summer.
As stated within the report, Kimmich was informed at the start of the week that the offer laid on the table by the record champions has been withdrawn.
This is because those in charge in Bavaria cannot understand why the midfielder has not already agreed to extend his stay while simultaneously being unwilling to discuss the fine details of the contract once again.
Nevertheless, this does not mean that Kimmich will depart, with the player and club still in negotiations regarding a new deal.
The initial offer proposed by Bayern was considered to be slightly more lucrative than his current €20 million-a-year contract, but should the two come to an agreement now, it is hard to believe that it will be on favourable terms for the German international.
Der Rekordmeister were hoping to reduce Kimmich’s salary at the club, but this was disregarded due to his starring role under Kompany this season.
Regardless, Bayern could return back to their aim of reducing his salary now that Kimmich has hesitated on signing.
