Bayern Munich and Chelsea have opened talks concerning the potential transfer of Christopher Nkunku, according to Sky Germany.
Since moving to Chelsea in a €60 million deal in 2023, Nkunku’s time in London has not gone as planned.
He had to deal with a lengthy injury spell early on in his Chelsea career, and he has subsequently been on the fringes of the first team more often than not.
The 27-year-old has been made available this summer. Inter Milan and RB Leipzig have shown interest in Nkunku this summer, but Bayern now look to be his most probable destination.
Bayern’s interest in Nkunku comes as they look to strengthen their options up front after the recent departure of Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman.
The Bundesliga champions would ideally like to take Nkunku on loan, but Chelsea are holding out for a permanent deal despite him having four years left on his current contract.
A move to Bayern could provide the fresh start Nkunku needs to revitalise his career after an underwhelming spell in London.
Chelsea would get to cut their losses and make room for new acquisitions.
The Blues have already signed several players this summer, but are keen on more attacking reinforcements.
Moves for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho are currently being worked on.
