Bayern Munich Shift Focus to Leandro Trossard After Luis Díaz Rebuff

Liverpool reject €52m bid for Díaz as Arsenal winger emerges as alternative

Bayern Munich’s search for a new winger has taken a fresh twist. After their €52 million bid for Liverpool’s Luis Díaz was swiftly rejected, sporting director Max Eberl is now weighing up alternatives – with Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard high on the shortlist.

According to BILD, Trossard, 28, is viewed as a viable Plan B should the Bundesliga champions fail to land Díaz. The Belgian international, capped 45 times, joined the Gunners from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 for €27.5 million and has since impressed in Mikel Arteta’s system.

While Arsenal are keen to extend the Belgian’s contract, negotiations appear to have stalled. Trossard, who changed representation in July and is now advised by German agent Dirk Hebel, is reportedly considering his options amid rising interest from Bayern and other European heavyweights.

The player’s reluctance to commit to fresh terms at the Emirates is understood to be linked to the growing external attention – with Bayern’s interest now sharpening focus.

Liverpool Stand Firm on Díaz

Bayern’s initial approach for Díaz was ambitious but ultimately unsuccessful. Liverpool, recently crowned Premier League champions, have no intention of letting one of their key attackers leave. The Colombian winger remains a pivotal figure in Arne Slot’s tactical setup and is expected to play a central role in the club’s Champions League push this season.

Díaz, 28, has been instrumental since arriving at Anfield from FC Porto and is viewed as a long-term piece in the club’s attacking puzzle.

Trossard: Versatility and Experience Appeal to Bayern

For Bayern, Trossard’s versatility is a major plus. Comfortable on either wing or in a more central attacking role, the Belgian offers flexibility and a proven Premier League pedigree. His work rate, eye for goal, and ability to operate in tight spaces could suit Bayern’s high-tempo style under Vincent Kompany.

Whether Arsenal are willing to entertain a sale remains to be seen, but with the player yet to agree on an extension, the Gunners could be forced into a decision if Bayern formalise their interest.
