In recent weeks, Germany’s record champions extended the contracts of Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala. Meanwhile, a deal is also approaching to tie Joshua Kimmich beyond the end of the season.

But they’re not done yet. Since joining the club from Manchester City in 2020, Leroy Sané’s contract hasn’t been extended. While the winger is free to talk with interested clubs, Bayern’s top executive Christoph Freund confirmed contract talks with the 29-year-old.

In an interview with Sky Germany, Freund spilled the latest on Kimmich and Sané. “We are in talks with Sané. Both parties must plan about certainty.”

Sané started the new year in good form, but he has been reduced to substitute appearances in each of Bayern’s last three league games. Having scored six league goals so far this season, he plans to reach double-digit goals in Bundesliga for the first time in his career.
