Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany says Mathys Tel could be involved in Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Holstein Kiel, despite the Frenchman's desire to leave before the transfer window closes on Monday.
After Tel's intentions to leave Bayern were made public on Wednesday, reports have emerged that the Bavarians have agreed a €60 million deal with Tottenham for the striker.
However, the 19-year-old has yet to make a final decision on his future - and as Kompany made clear, he is still a Bayern player for the time being.
“What's important is that the player is still a Bayern player,” Kompany told reporters.
"Every player can be selected until the last moment. My role here is always to use the players available.
“Mathys is a Bayern player. So, if he's here tomorrow, hopefully he can go looking to score goals.”
Sitting next to Kompany, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said time will tell whether Tel will leave before the transfer window closes - and if so, whether it will be on loan or on a permanent basis.
“Mathys is a very gifted player, so his move to Bayern was very good. Whether it's a loan or a sale, we'll see. It needs to be right for all parties. Will we do it? Our squad is very well set up,” said Eberl.
In terms of personnel, Kompany said he expects to have the same players at his disposal on Saturday as in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Slovan Bratislava.
