kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is on the verge of moving to Liverpool, with the deal well advanced.
The talks over the Dutch international are said to be near conclusion, with only a few details left to be clarified. The 24-year-old old expected to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at the Premier League champions.
Frimpong’s contract at the BayArena is valid until 2028 and has a release clause that is worth €40m, which Liverpool are interested in paying. His move to Merseyside will see him sign a contract at the club until 2030. At Liverpool, Frimpong will reunite with Virgil Van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Cody Gakpo, who are his international teammates for the Netherlands.
When it comes to replacing Frimpong, Leverkusen currently have Arthur in their ranks, who is more of a traditional right-back, while Nathan Tella can play as a right-wing back. However, who will replace Frimpong will be down to who is the new head coach, with Cesc Fabregas, the current front runner, preferring a back four.
