Sky Germany and kicker report that Bayer Leverkusen are interested in RB Leipzig goalkeeper Janis Blaswich.
The reason Leverkusen are searching for a number two is because Lukas Hradecky is on the verge of joining AS Monaco, meaning die Werkself need a goalkeeper who can fill in for summer arrival Mark Flekken. Niklas Lomb is currently the club’s third-choice keeper.
Negotiations with Blaswich over a move are already said to be well advanced, but the decision will ultimately come down to Leipzig.
The 34-year-old is currently Leipzig’s third-choice keeper, but with the keeper Peter Gulacsi allowed to leave if he wishes, Leipzig wants to avoid needing to sign two goalkeepers. If the Hungarian leaves, then Blaswich will move up to second choice.
Blaswich spent last season on loan at Red Bull Salzburg, where he played in the Champions League. The 34-year-old’s arrival would also help occupy another homegrown spot when it comes to Leverkusen’s Champions League squad registration.
