Real Madrid delayed the title celebrations for another night after a last-gasp victory over Mallorca on Wednesday night, but a win this evening will crown Barcelona as Spanish champions.
Barcelona are unbeaten in La Liga in 2025 and enter the derby clash on a run of five consecutive La Liga wins.
Espanyol sit 16th in the table and an upset win would guarantee their place in La Liga for next season. However, Espanyol have not beaten their Catalan rivals in the last 27 league meetings between the sides.
Ferran Torres has been ruled out of the clash after Barcelona confirmed the forward ‘underwent successful surgery’ for appendicitis on Tuesday night.
Robert Lewandowski looks set to return to the starting side. The veteran has been eased back from a hamstring injury.
Hansi Flick also looks set to be without Jules Kounde and Pablo Torre for this potentially decisive clash, while Marc Bernal remains out with a long-term knee issue. Either Ronaldo Araujo or Andreas Christensen will replace the suspended Inigo Martinez in central defence.
Barcelona predicted XI: Szczesny; Garcia, Christensen, Cubarsi, Balde; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Olmo, Raphinha; Lewandowski.
Espanyol host Barcelona in La Liga at the RCDE Stadium on Thursday 15th May 2025. Kick-off is 20:00 BST.
The Espanyol vs Barcelona game will be shown live on ITV4, Premier Sports 1, LALIGATV and ITVX in the UK.
