A leading member of the summer transfer wishlist at Barcelona recently knocked back an approach on the part of the Blaugrana’s arch rivals, Real Madrid.
That’s according to Tot Costa of Catalunya Radio, who point towards Nico Williams as the player in question.
Wide-man Nico is of course a man in-demand this summer.
Continuing to build on his reputation as one of the game’s standout up-and-coming wingers, the 22-year-old has been linked with a whole host of the continent’s biggest clubs.
Recent days, though, have seen a clear frontrunner emerge in the Nico sweepstakes, namely the aforementioned Barcelona.
After seeing a summer-long pursuit of the Spanish international come up short in 2024, the Blaugrana are understood to be pushing hard for Nico’s services once more.
And the attacker himself, it would appear, only has eyes for Barca, too.
As per a report from Tot Costa, Nico was recently approached by Real Madrid, who informed the Athletic Club star that they were ready to activate his release clause.
Nico’s response, however, was to make clear that he is only willing to sign for one club this summer: Barcelona.
