The next few days are going to be important as Barcelona look to activate Nico Williams’ release clause worth €62 million.

Barça have the means to activate the release clause, but it appears the club are assessing the Financial Fair Play implications, knowing registering the player could later be a challenge.

While Barcelona do that, Bayern Munich remain on high alert, waiting to pounce on an opportunity.

Nico Williams waiting for Barcelona

A recent report from SPORT has offered an update on Nico’s future, claiming that the forward, for now, has indefinitely rejected the advances of Bayern.

This comes on the back of Bayern Munich proposing a fresh offer this week worth €12 million per season, but the winger declined to negotiate with the Bundesliga giants.

The report adds that Nico is waiting for Barcelona’s move and will not entertain any offers from other clubs, including Bayern Munich.

The winger’s priority is to play for Barcelona, and everything suggests the deal will go through in the coming days, with Gerard Romero giving it a ‘150% certainty’.

However, this does not exactly mean Bayern Munich are completely out of the race to sign Nico Williams.

Should the attacker’s move to Barcelona fall through by any chance, Bayern will be in a position to make a move and sign the Spanish international.

But that is a big if and would require Bayern to play a waiting game – something the club might not be able to afford, having already missed out on Florian Wirtz.

The Bavarians are eyeing moves for Marcus Rashford and Rafael Leao, but signing a top winger is proving to be quite difficult for the club this summer.
