Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen could be sidelined for as long as four months, in the case of choosing to undergo surgery over the weeks ahead.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have late this week provided an insight into the situation.
The name of goalkeeper Ter Stegen has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the German’s ongoing absence from pre-season training has been due to injury, rather than the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.
Ter Stegen is understood to be dealing with a niggling back complaint, which is preventing him from taking to the grass.
So problematic is the issue, that the 33-year-old is taking into consideration going under the knife.
And as alluded to above, in the case of heading down such a route, Ter Stegen will be condemned to a lengthy spell out of action.
As per a report from Sport:
‘The German is considering whether to undergo conservative treatment or, on the contrary, have immediate surgery, which would take him out for about four months.’
