Barcelona are committed to tying their key players down to new deals, and Robert Lewandowski could be the latest to pledge his allegiance to the club.

Gavi, Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi and Gerard Martin have all committed their futures to the club.

Raphinha, Inigo Martinez, Jules Kounde and Lamine Yamal are next in line for new deals.

Lewandowski could follow suit with SPORT journalist David Bernabeu claiming Barca are preparing to offer him a new contract to keep him at the club until 2027.

The 36-year-old’s current deal is set to run until 2026, but that depends on a clause that requires him to feature for at least 45 minutes in 55 percent of Barca’s official matches this season.

With the former Bayern Munich marksman well on track to meet that requirement, his contract for next season is already assured.

However, Barca’s management wants to extend his deal by another year, with the striker proving he still has what it takes to lead the line at the highest level.

Despite being in the twilight of his illustrious career, Lewandowski has shown no signs of slowing down.

He currently leads the La Liga Pichichi race ahead of Kylian Mbappe, with 20 goals in 23 league games after netting a penalty to help Barca claim a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano on Monday night.

Lewandowski has also scored nine goals in eight Champions League games this season. He has tallied 32 goals and three assists in 34 games across all competitions.

There are only a handful of strikers on the planet who can match the striker’s goalscoring return, and Barca have decided to stick with him for at least one more year.

The Catalan giants are interested in striker Alexander Isak, but Newcastle United’s £150 million valuation has forced the club to consider more practical solutions.

Extending Lewandowski’s contract would also allow the club to spread his wages over an extra year and improve their financial flexibility.
