Over the past few weeks, FC Barcelona have been working hard to tie down young players coming through the La Masia ranks to new contracts.

The likes of Hector Fort, Pau Cubarsi, Marc Casado, and Marc Bernal, among others, have agreed to new deals while the club is in the process of renewing more players such as Dani Rodriguez, Guille Fernandez, and Unai Hernandez.

Toni Fernandez’s future secured

Now, SPORT has brought forward more good news for Barcelona fans with regard to securing the future of another of the club’s prized gems from the academy.

Indeed, as per the report, Barça have reached a total agreement with 16-year-old wonderkid Toni Fernandez over his first professional contract.

The teenage gem will pen the contract on July 16, once he turns 16-year-old, inking a three-year deal that will run until the summer of 2027.

Toni Fernandez is a 15-year-old centre-forward who is already a part of the Juvenil B setup at the club (Under-18), despite his age.

A versatile operator with an eye for a goal and great technical abilities, Toni has shown great promise and is held in the highest regard at Barcelona.

As such, they had made it a priority to renew his contract, especially with top clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, and Manchester City sniffing around.

In fact, the report states that City and Juventus even made proposals that were more lucrative than that Barcelona offered. However, Fernandez always wanted to succeed at the Catalan club and opted to stay put.

It is claimed that sporting director Deco and Toni Hernandez, assistant director of youth football, played key roles in the renewal agreement which will be signed and made official in under two weeks.
