In September, CaughtOffside reported that Chelsea, Tottenham, and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres. Now, new details have emerged that could shape this transfer race.
Tottenham are reportedly leading the pursuit for Gyökeres, while Chelsea view him as a backup option, with their primary focus shifting toward a potential bid for Victor Osimhen either in January or next summer. PSG are also monitoring Gyökeres, leaning on their strong ties with Sporting.
However, CaughtOffside points out that any PSG move may depend on whether they decide to sell Gonçalo Ramos or Kolo Muani at the season’s end, a decision that remains uncertain.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany recently revealed that Gyökeres has a €100 million release clause, though there’s an understanding that he could be available for €60 million to €70 million next summer.
A January transfer seems unlikely, but a summer move appears more feasible. Last week, a report mentioned that Arsenal, who are eager to add a top striker, may hold off on any major spending until the end of this campaign when they would be in a stronger position to meet Sporting’s valuation of around £84 million for Gyökeres.

According to A Bola, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has opened talks to bring Viktor Gyökeres to the Catalan club. The striker reportedly has an agreement with Sporting that would allow him to leave for a fee in the range of €60 million to €70 million.
One club that won’t be in the race will be Manchester United as Record reported that Gyökeres has turned down the chance to join Manchester United, despite the club hoping his desire to reunite with former coach Ruben Amorim would sway him.
This season, Gyökeres has scored 20 goals while recording four assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.
