Barcelona president Joan Laporta has on Tuesday sent something of a rallying cry the way of the club’s supporters.
This comes ahead of a crucial outing for Hansi Flick’s troops this coming weekend.
Barcelona are set to play out their final fixture before the Christmas break this coming Saturday, when they welcome Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.
The two sides head into the matchup locked on points atop the Spanish top-flight, just a solitary point clear of arch rivals Real Madrid.
Barca, for their part, have of course endured a difficult time of things on the domestic front of late, having emerged triumphant from just one of their last six in the league.
Atlético, on the other hand, are the form team in Spanish football at this moment.
Safe to say, then, that Saturday’s hosts will require all the help they can get in hopes of turning their fortunes around at Montjuïc.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the aforementioned Joan Laporta therefore made use of the opportunity to send something of a plea to the Blaugrana faithful:
“I urge the fans to give the best support they can for the match against Atlético Madrid. It’s absolutely crucial, like every other home match that has that feeling.”
