Barcelona will try to overtake Brest in the Champions League standings with the Blaugranes hosting the Bretons this Tuesday at Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium. Considering the gap in quality and Champions League experience between the two sides, the La Liga giants are overwhelming favorites to inflict the plucky Ligue 1 side their first European loss. But after losing their inaugural Champions League game this season at Monaco’s Stade Louis-II, Barcelona should be wary of Ligue 1 opposition.
Free-scoring Polish centre-forward Robert Lewandowski is expected to lead the line for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona. The German manager will have to make do without Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old Euro 2024 winner is nursing a right ankle injury sustained during the Blaugranes‘ 5-2 Champions League win against Red Star Belgrade. Dani Olmo is expected to stand in for his fellow countryman. Barcelona will try to bounce back in the Champions League after a two-game winless streak in La Liga.
