After claiming a significant 4-2 victory at Atletico Madrid, Barcelona were set up by La Liga to stutter in the wake of the March international break.

Their return to domestic action was premature as a result of some questionable scheduling, but Hansi Flick's humming outfit refused to miss a beat as they eased past Osasuna 3-0 on Thursday night.

Barca's record in 2024 remains imperious, and their victory in midweek has opened up a three-point gap between themselves and second-place Real Madrid ahead of the weekend's action.

Flick's side are next in action on Sunday afternoon as Girona make the short trip across Catalonia, and here's what the Barca starting XI could be for the game.

GK: Wojciech Szczesny - After a shaky start to his Barcelona career, Szczesny has been excellent as of late and he wasn't required on Thursday as Osasuna failed to record a single shot on target.

RB: Jules Kounde - Kounde has been a consistent figure down the right flank for Barcelona, and there's no doubting his status in the XI for Sunday's game.

CB: Pau Cubarsi - The teenager sustained a knock on international duty but was on the bench against Osasuna. Having shaken off his injury, Cubarsi should return to Flick's team this weekend.

CB: Inigo Martinez - Ronald Araujo is an excellent alternative, but Martinez has played superbly alongside Cubarsi this season.

LB: Alejandro Balde - If Kounde has been reliable, then Balde has been consistently outstanding down the left. He's returned to his very best form this term and is one of Europe's premier left-backs again.

CM: Frenkie de Jong - De Jong is playing some of his best football in years, and he's keen to extend his stay in Catalonia. Barca would be foolish not to retain the Dutchman given his body of work in 2025.

CM: Pedri - While De Jong has resurged, Pedri hasn't put a foot wrong this term. He's the beating heart of this majestic outfit and will keep his place in Flick's pivot.

RW: Lamine Yamal - It was a dribble-heavy outing for Yamal in midweek, and the talented Miguel Gutierrez has entered his line of vision. The teenager has often been stellar without registering a goal contribution.

AM: Fermin Lopez - Dani Olmo is out for the next three weeks with a groin injury he picked up on Thursday. Fermin replaced his compatriot against Osasuna and teed up Robert Lewandowski's second-half goal. While Gavi is available, Fermin should deputise for Olmo on Sunday.

LW: Raphinha - The quick turnaround post-international break meant one of Barca's protagonists this season was unavailable in midweek. Raphinha will be back in action at the weekend.

ST: Robert Lewandowski - Flick wisely preserved the veteran forward on Thursday, opting to start Ferran Torres up top before Lewandowski entered the fray in the second half and continued his pursuit of the Pichichi by scoring Barca's third.
