Given their economic situation, FC Barcelona have, in recent years, looked to bring in players from the free-agent pool – a transfer strategy that has worked quite well for them.
The likes of Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia, Ilkay Gundogan, and Franck Kessie, among others, were all signed on free transfers.
Heading into the summer window this year, the Blaugrana are once again looking to go fishing for players in the free-agent market, with Jonathan Tah already expected to sign.
Another player who has been touted as a potential free-transfer target for Barcelona is Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.
Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona have been offered a chance to sign Thomas Partey on a free transfer when his contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season.
Despite being an important player for the Gunners, the Ghanaian midfielder has yet to reach an agreement on an extension.
As a result, his representatives have been exploring potential options, including Barcelona.

The report further states that Arsenal are still working on renewing Partey’s contract. Meanwhile, PSG and Juventus are among the clubs that have inquired about the midfielder’s future.
However, despite being given the opportunity to sign Partey for free in the summer, Barcelona have not taken any steps forward, as they believe their midfield is already well-covered. At this stage, the Catalans have no intention of pursuing his signing.
As far as the midfield department is concerned, Barça’s strategy is clear – they are focused on renewing Frenkie de Jong’s contract and placing trust in academy prospects Marc Casad and Marc Bernal.
With De Jong, Bernal, Casado, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Pablo Torre Barcelona already have plenty of options in midfield.
Given this depth, the sporting department does not see it as an area that requires reinforcements. Instead, the club’s primary transfer focus remains on signing a left winger.
