Barcelona are looking far and wide in the transfer market for a new left winger after missing out on their priority target, Nico Williams.

AC Milan’s Rafael Leao appears to be at the top of the wishlist, but the Italians have declared him ‘non-transferable’.

Then there is Juventus star Federico Chiesa, who has fallen out of favour at the club and could be available for as little as €15 million this summer.

Hansi Flick eyes Marcus Rashford

Now, a report from Albert Fernandez of GOL suggests that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has his eyes on another possible option to reinforce the left flank.

Indeed, as per the Spanish journalist, the Barça head coach has suggested the name of Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford as an alternative to bolster the attack on the left side.

Strengthening the left wing with a player who possesses great dribbling abilities and can score goals is one of the few requests that Flick has presented to Barça.

And, the German tactician has put forth the name of Rashford as a possible option, although it is unclear if there have been any developments beyond the manager suggesting his name.

Rashford, 26, has been on Barcelona’s radars in the past as well, but a move for him might not be feasible for the Catalans as his contract at Manchester United runs until 2028.

Furthermore, the England international’s form over the past year or so has been quite poor, as he managed just eight goals in over 40 games last season and is yet to score in two games this term.

As mentioned earlier, there have been no developments beyond Flick putting his name on the table as a potential option.

And as things stand, it seems like Barcelona are looking at other alternatives like Leao, Chiesa, and even Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman, making any attempt to sign Rashford extremely unlikely.
