Barcelona increasingly open to Chiesa if Juventus drop price | OneFootball

Federico Chiesa is increasingly likely to join Barcelona, amid reports Juventus will accept a loss-making offer, but his wage demands are a major problem.

The winger is frozen out of the squad and not part of new coach Thiago Motta’s plans, although the impression is that his exclusion was just as much a club decision as that of the tactician.

His contract is due to expire at the end of this season, so he must be sold to avoid losing him on a free transfer, and €15m is the minimum figure for Juve to avoid making a net loss on the €60m purchase.

However, the need to get him off the books is stronger than that and Calciomercato.it suggest the Bianconeri are prepared to lower it even further.

Chiesa too costly for Barcelona right now

Agent Fali Ramadani is currently negotiating with Barcelona to get a deal over the line, and Relevo note that while he was not Plan A, or even Plan B, the Italy international will do.

Problems remain, specifically Chiesa and his €7m salary demands, which are currently not possible for a Barcelona side forced to sell players in order to avoid breaking Financial Fair Play rules.

That would be an increase on the circa €5m per season that the Italian makes at Juve.
