The board at La Liga giants Barcelona are hopeful of being able to make official the club’s first signing of the summer as soon as next week.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Joan García as the player in question.
Goalkeeper Joan’s name has of course been a prominent one in the headlines across Catalunya’s capital for several weeks now.
This comes amid the widespread understanding that Espanyol’s no.1 is being eyed as a summer reinforcement on the part of Deco and the Barcelona brass.
Over the weekend, surprising new reports surfaced, suggesting that Hansi Flick had performed something of a U-turn, no longer considering the signing of a new shot-stopper as a priority with a view to next season.
If the latest word stemming from Spain 24 hours on is anything to go by, though, then Barca in fact appear closer than ever before to landing a new no.1
As per a report from Sport:
‘Joan García will be Barça’s new goalkeeper next week if there is no unexpected final twist. Barça have already reached an agreement in principle with the Espanyol goalkeeper for the next five seasons and everything should be completed in a matter of days.’
