One of the primary complaints from FC Barcelona this season has been their conversion. La Blaugrana are among the most creative teams in Europe this season, and conjure up a lot of good chances for themselves. However, it is converting those chances that has been a problem for Barcelona.
While Robert Lewandowski has indeed improved in terms of his goal-scoring form in recent games, it is also true that his age is not getting any younger. Already 35 years old, the Polish striker may not have too long left at the top level. Moreover, he has not exactly been that consistent either across the campaign.
Thus, the need for a new striker for the future may start becoming more and more necessary. However, given their rather tense financial situation, Barcelona can not just go around spending world-record fees to acquire the most talented attacking talents in the world.
Rather fortunately, however, Barça may not have to spend that much after all. There are market opportunities popping up every now and then, and it seems that a certain striker from the Bundesliga presents himself as a great option. According to BILD, Barcelona are keeping a close eye on RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
Aged just 20, Sesko is a striker who hails from Slovenia and is currently one of the Bundesliga’s rising starlets. With 10 goals to his name across all competitions, the dominating striker has adapted well to life with his current team.
Moreover, fortunately for Barcelona, he has a rather affordable release clause attached to his contract. Despite it being valid until 2028, the contract sees him have a release clause worth €50 million.
While it is by no means a small number, it is still one that is much more affordable compared to what Barça would otherwise have to pay for other elite young strikers.
However, Barcelona are not the only team linked to the talented Slovenian. Other top clubs like AC Milan, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool are also reportedly eyeing the Bundesliga forward.
Moreover, given their upper hand when it comes to financial muscle, Barcelona will have a huge task set ahead of them if they truly wish to push for Sesko’s arrival at any point.
