The recent game against Sevilla was one that Barcelona desperately needed to win. Following the positive result from the Madrid derby, one in which both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid dropped points, Hansi Flick’s men needed to be at their best. Ultimately, a win is exactly what Barcelona managed to get.
Thrashing the opposition 4-1 at their own home ground, it may not have been a dominant performance but it was certainly a clinical one. However, it was not all positive news for Hansi Flick as one of his key players went down injured and had to be replaced early in the first-half.
Ronald Araujo, due to an issue with his ankle, was taken out of the game and replaced by Pau Cubarsi. While Barcelona ended up winning the game and grabbing all three points, the Uruguayan defender’s injury scare was a matter of concern.
Fortunately, however, it seems that it was just a scare after all. As per the latest update from Jijantes FC, the player has not suffered any kind of an injury despite the speculation and worry. Instead, it is just an ankle inflammation due to the bruise he suffered on the foot.
It will likely not take too long to heal and it is reportedly not even ruled out that he could be back in time for the next game as well. With Barcelona set to play an in-form Rayo Vallecano in La Liga at the Montjuic Stadium, it is surely a game that Araujo will likely not want to miss.
The La Liga title race is now as hot as ever, and the top teams are grasping for any type of advantage they can get. Thus, Barcelona will want to make sure they avoid any unnecessary injuries at this crucial point of the season, and losing Araujo would have been a major blow.
Now with a renewed contract until 2031, the player will want to fight for his place in the starting eleven. However, for the first time in quite a few years, it seems that the defensive positions in the team are some of the most competitive ones that there are.
