According to a report from Sport, FC Barcelona have taken steps to find out more information about Lille OSC’s Lucas Chevalier (22) as they consider bringing in an elite goalkeeper this summer.
The injury to Marc-André ter Stegen (32) and reported doubts surrounding the suitability of Iñaki Peña Sotorres (25) led the club to bring in Wojciech Szczęsny (34) as a stop-gap until the end of the season. However, there remain concerns over the long-term future of the role.
Barcelona are reportedly not yet fully committed to buying a new goalkeeper and the club will have to consider their finances ahead of any attempt to bring in a talent whose price is only increasing with every excellent performance that he puts in during Lille’s Champions League foray.
Diario Sport writes that Barcelona believe it will take more than €40 million to convince Lille to part with Chevalier. And it could turn out to be a lot more if a bidding war develops, with Paris Saint-Germain having long been linked with a move for the France U21 goalkeeper.
