The latest figures highlighting the La Liga television viewership across the season to date have on Thursday come to the fore online.

And the numbers highlight one ongoing truth – that Barcelona remain king when it comes to Spanish audiences.

Xavi’s side have of course been knocked firmly off their perch atop the La Liga hierarchy thus far this season, with arch rivals Real Madrid in line to secure champion status potentially as soon as this weekend.

And yet, despite the Blaugrana’s struggles, they have continued to pull the most eyes, week after week.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona, across 2023/24 to date, have averaged 1,034,788 viewers per game.

The Catalans are the sole La Liga outfit to have surpassed the one million average mark, with champions-in-waiting Real Madrid in 2nd, at 965,667.

Rounding out the podium, as expected are the capital’s other heavyweights, in Diego Simeone’s Atlético.

But their viewership pales in comparison to that of Spanish football’s two biggest clubs, with Atléti averaging 560,576.

Barcelona have also been involved in each of the season’s five most-viewed fixtures, with the latest edition of El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu late last month topping the list, at a whopping 2.1 million viewers (LaLiga TV on Movistar +).
