FC Barcelona are always looking to invest in young talent that seems promising. They have proven that in the past, and even did so recently with the signing of Roony Bardghji. However, it appears that a player from Atletico Madrid could soon join the Catalan side as well.

As highlighted by SPORT, Barça and Atletico Madrid are currently negotiating the transfer of young defender Geronimo Spina. Aged 20, the Argentine defender has been a standout talent at the Madrid-based club and is regarded as someone that even Diego Simeone has followed closely.

However, the report claims that the two clubs are now close to finalising the player’s transfer. It is also stated that the deal will likely involve a transfer fee and include a percentage of any potential future sale.

While nothing has been signed yet, the player’s agent was recently at the Barça training facilities this week and met with club director Deco as well. This could imply that a final agreement could soon be reached between all concerned parties.

As for what his potential signing would entail, it is expected that he will be an asset for the reserve team. However, depending on his performances, he could possibly even earn chances with the first team.
