Last week, Serhou Guirassy shocked Barcelona with an eye-catching performance for Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the quarterfinals.

The former Koln forward scored a brilliant hat-trick, almost helping Dortmund pull off a comeback for the ages.

Shortly afterwards, Barcelona were linked with a move for Guirassy, who appears to have a special release clause embedded in his Dortmund contract.

Barcelona can trigger Guirassy’s release clause

According to Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger, there are a select few European clubs who can trigger a Guirassy release clause after the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

Berger adds that Barcelona are included in that list, which also includes arch-rivals Real Madrid.

The list has a myriad of Premier League clubs, including the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Guirassy has no plans to leave

That said, Guirassy, for his part, has no desire to leave Borussia Dortmund. He is happy at the club, having already scored 29 goals in all competitions in his first season so far.

As a matter of fact, Guirassy is grateful to Dortmund that the club trusted him last summer despite his knee injury and made him one of the club’s top earners.

Therefore, the striker is not in talks with any other clubs right now. Dortmund, for their part, see Guirassy as someone who can be a central part of the club’s rebuild in the years to come.

However, Barcelona are unlikely to stop monitoring the performances of the Guinean, who has racked up as many as 13 goals in 14 Champions League matches this season.
