Back where we belong - Charlton return to the Championship

Charlton fans, breathe it in. After five years in League One, the Addicks are finally back where we belong – and we did it in classic Charlton fashion: guts, grit, and a touch of magic.

Macaulay Gillesphey was the hero at Wembley, bending in a wicked 35th-minute free-kick that left Orient's keeper no chance. It was his first goal for the club — and what a time to deliver.

But Gillesphey wasn’t just lethal with the set-piece; he was a rock at the back, dealing with Orient’s late push with calm authority. Player of the Match? No doubt. Gillesphey owned Wembley.

The drama didn’t stop there. A bizarre VAR communication failure caused an eight-minute stoppage in the second half but the lads stayed locked in.

George Dobson put in a warrior’s shift in midfield and goalkeeper Harry Isted made a massive save in added time to seal the deal.

Charlton are going up — and with Nathan Jones at the helm, the future feels seriously bright.
