Aston Villa are keen to bolster their defence in the winter transfer window and they have earmarked Axel Disasi as a potential option.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Villa have reached an agreement with the Chelsea defender over a potential move in the current window, and they now need to reach an agreement with the Blues.
Romano claims that the 26-year-old vastly experienced defender wants to move to Villa Park in the January window.
Several clubs across Europe have made an attempt to sign Disasi, but the player wants to join Villa after he held direct talks with Unai Emery.
The talks with Emery are thought to be crucial in choosing Villa over other clubs.
“Disasi wants to join Villa despite interest from more clubs around Europe after direct talk with Unai Emery, crucial to get the green light. Deal now up to Chelsea and Villa to reach full agreement.”
Villa are also interested in signing Villarreal defender Juan Foyth this month and have made an offer to sign him.
Disasi joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 from Monaco and made 44 appearances in the first season.
This season, he has made only four starts, and two more appearances have come from the bench in the Premier League. He has scored one goal.
The fact that the player is keen to move to Villa Park and has agreed personal terms should come as a massive boost for Villa, and they will try to reach an agreement with Chelsea.
Villa sold Diego Carlos this month, and Emery is desperate to sign a new defender. Disasi can also play as a right-back.
