Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is officially set to make his return to OM in the coming days. A decision that comes as no surprise to his former coach, Alain Giresse.
Just a year after leaving for Saudi Arabia to join Al-Qadsiah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is preparing for a comeback at OM. It's a move from the heart, especially since he had other offers on the table that would have guaranteed him a higher salary.
Recently interviewed by Africafoot, Alain Giresse says he's not surprised by Aubameyang's choice. The striker has already turned down big paydays in favor of other priorities. "This isn't new: back when he was playing for Dortmund, he already declined a massive offer from Qatar. He's a true football enthusiast, a real lover of the game. He prefers to take on sporting challenges, even if it means earning less," the coach explained.
Giresse continues: "He’s always in top shape, takes great care of his body, and understands what it takes to perform at the highest level. Many players have headed to the Gulf at a much younger age than him. He only spent one season there—and a successful one at that—and I have no doubt he’ll quickly readapt to the tempo and pressure of playing for OM."
