The atmosphere in the Spanish football circles has become quite turbulent after Real Madrid took a clear stance over refereeing in La Liga.
The Merengues filed a formal complaint with RFEF after the controversial 1-0 defeat to Espanyol, where they felt the goalscorer, Carlos Romero, should have been sent off for a dangerous tackle on Kylian Mbappe.
Given the situation, Real Madrid decided to boycott a meeting with key stakeholders like La Liga, RFEF, Referees’ Technical Association (CTA) and other clubs earlier today.
Now, MARCA reports that during the meeting, La Liga clubs expressed their disapproval of the way Real Madrid have acted and called for action to be taken against the reigning champions.
All the clubs voiced their frustration with Real Madrid’s behaviour and the videos from the club’s official channel RMTV. They called for the alleged ‘accusations and pressures’ from Los Blancos against the refereeing collective to be reported.

As per the report, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid were the most vocal in their protest against Real Madrid.
Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido Carrasco and Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin were the ones leading the charge against Los Merengues.
It must be noted that both Real Betis and Athletic Club had publicly expressed their discontent with Real Madrid’s statement on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Getafe sided with the Spanish capital club with regarding to their stance on cleaning up refereeing when the statement was released.
La Liga president Javier Tebas also hit out at Real Madrid and admitted that they are studying the possibility of taking legal action on the Merengues.
