Alexander Sorloth has once again proven to be a thorn in Barcelona’s side, as the Atletico Madrid forward found the back of the net against the Blaugrana in their recent Copa del Rey encounter.
His ability to deliver in crucial moments has become a recurring theme, especially when facing Barcelona, and this time was no different.
The Norwegian striker seems to have a special connection with scoring against Barcelona, particularly when playing in their own backyard.
As the match progressed, it looked as if he might miss out on getting his name on the scoresheet, but he eventually capitalised when it mattered the most.
Much like he did in their previous meeting in La Liga, Sorloth struck in extra time to seal the deal for his side. Back in December, he delivered a late winner in the 96th minute, securing a dramatic victory.

Sorloth’s confidence before the game was evident, as he admitted that he had a strong belief that he would score. His track record against Barcelona speaks volumes.
“I have such a good feeling playing against Barcelona. I think this is the fourth or fifth time I’ve scored against Barça here in Barcelona.
“Even when I woke up this morning, I just knew I was gonna score,” he said after the game as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Whether it is La Liga or the Copa del Rey, he has consistently found a way to trouble the Blaugrana’s defence, regardless of the team he represents.
Atletico Madrid have shown a remarkable ability to push until the very last moments of a game. Their late equaliser in the 4-4 thriller added to their tally of stoppage-time goals this season, which now stands at 13.
Sorloth himself has contributed four of those, with two coming specifically against Barcelona.
Over the years, he has built a reputation as a Barcelona tormentor, having scored five times and providing three assists in seven matches against them while playing for Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, and Real Sociedad.
