Real Madrid’s new signings have adapted well to the club’s dynamics and it has been clear from day one that Xabi Alonso heavily counts on them in his plans.
Three of the new signings debuted as starters against Osasuna on Matchday 1 in La Liga while Franco Mastantuono came off the bench to pull off a promising cameo in his first appearance in the white jersey.
Needless to say, the initial signs of Real Madrid’s new signings are positive and it is safe to say that the Merengues have done good business this summer.
As relayed by ESPN in a recent report, Atletico Madrid had two of Real Madrid’s four signings this summer on their radar as well as they looked to create a revolution in their dressing room.
While Diego Simeone’s men have indeed made many signings this summer, they failed to secure the two players Los Blancos had on their plans. The two names are none other than Franco Mastantuono and Alvaro Carreras.

The Colchoneros tried their level best to pitch their project and lure the duo to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano this summer but failed.
One of the reasons behind the failed attempt, as per the report, is that Atletico Madrid wanted to pay the fees in different instalments, which was not accepted by River Plate and Benfica.
Moreover, both players had made up their minds to join Real Madrid. After all, they made it very clear in their interviews since joining that they had no second thoughts.
As it stands, Carreras is expected to continue as a starter as Real Madrid gear up for match day two, especially after impressing the manager in the first game.
Mastantuono, meanwhile, is poised for his first start for the club against Real Oviedo on Sunday.
