A transfer fee for Miguel Almiron has now been agreed between Newcastle United and Atlanta United.
An exclusive from The Telegraph says the deal is now close to being officially announced.
The only remaining detail to be agreed before completion, is Miguel Almiron sorting personal terms with his old club.
However, The Telegraph report that their information is that this isn’t going to be a major obstacle to the move being finalised.
Eddie Howe was been asked about the Miguel Almiron situation on Friday, during his pre-Southampton press conference:
“I think Miggy’s head has been very, very solidly here.
“He has been brilliant in training this week.
“I have seen not one moment where I thought, oh, I need to address this, or speak to him, or have a deeper conversation.
“I think we are both aware of the situation.
“Yes, there is interest in him from other clubs.
“There is potential, a chance he could leave before the window closes, but until that moment and if that moment never arrives, he’s still a valuable member of the squad.
“We love him to bits.
“He has got a great energy and character that has never changed for a second.
“He has been the ultimate professional and let’s see what happens.”
I am guessing we will get a very good idea of just how close the Miguel Almiron deal is to completion and being announced, when Eddie Howe names his team and subs this afternoon, ahead of the Southampton match.
